IDF Upgrade Process
Retrofitting IDF’s is not for the Faint-of Heart. If you are going to do it, it’s worth doing right! We have done over 50 of these upgrades and have become experts at it.
This site has seven IDF’s all with 24 x 7 operations. This IDF supports both edge and core switching. As you can see there is no wire management to properly patch the system. In addition to the mess of patch cables the numbering system was out of sequence and the cabling above the ceiling had some issues as well. We started by identify the existing numbering scheme and created an old to new data base. We then set out to the floor to find each work area outlet and re-labeled the jack plate with the new numbering. We also provided as built floor plans for the site.
