Although the tangled mess is not the only issue with this IDF it was the most prehibitive short comming.
Retrofitting an IDF will have different degrees of complexity, from simply adding some wire management elements and re-patching to a complete overhaul. In this case an overhaul was necessary. The first mistake was installing a structured cabling system in a 24” server cabinet. Basically there is not enough space for managing the patch cords. Also the patch panel labeling was out of sequence. Don’t over think this area. What starts out as good intentions soon becomes disjointed as the infrastructure grows, numbering one to a hundred will work just fine. Take a tour of the process!
